Privacy and cookie policy

This document explains how we process the details that you provide when visiting the Liitot.fi website.

What is our cookie policy?

These cookie policies describe how SAK and its partners use cookies and corresponding tracking and targeting technologies (hereinafter referred to collectively as cookies) on the Liitot.fi website. Cookies are used to collect information about how and when a website is used. This information can be used to improve website usability and to target marketing messages at visitors to the Liitot.fi website.

Behavioural information collected through the Liitot.fi website is never combined with other data that SAK may process in other contexts from which a user may be identified in person.

What are cookies and what information is collected using them?

The Liitot.fi website uses first-party and third-party cookies. First-party cookies are set by the website shown in the address bar. In addition to these, the Liitot.fi website also uses third-party cookies from such sources as advertising technology providers and social media services. Only the server that set the cookie can subsequently read it and recognise the browser, for example when the user returns to a previously visited site.

Websites use cookies to collect such information as

how many users are visiting a site
what terminal devices are accessing the site
which web addresses were last visited by users of the site
which individual pages users have viewed.

Cookies and website servers automatically record the page requests made by users visiting the site. These details generally include the user’s network request together with its date and time, the IP address of the user’s terminal device, and the type and language of the user’s browser.

This information is in a form that cannot be associated with any individual user unless additional details are also available. Cookies do not record such details as the name, e-mail address, telephone number or home address of an individual user. SAK cannot combine information collected using cookies with any specific individual, and it also takes further measures to ensure that the information remains anonymous. For example, one stage in using the tools of web analytics involves removing numbers from a user’s IP address so that nobody can personally identify the user.

What are cookies and their associated information used for?

Cookies for visitor statistics and analytics:
The Google Analytics web analytics tool uses cookies to collect statistics. This information enables an analysis of the number of visitors, their interest in content and modes of service usage, and supports website improvement.

Cookies for targeting marketing communications:
These cookies help SAK to target marketing communications at users who have visited its website. SAK does this in partnership with Google, Twitter and Facebook. By using cookies from these service providers on its websites, SAK enables the collection and transmission of information to these partners. Google Tag Manager is also used for managing these tracking tags.

How long is the information stored?

Cookies may either remain valid for a certain session until the user quits the browser, or they may be persistent cookies that remain valid for between a few months and some years. Users may cut the cookie information storage time by adjusting their browser settings to clear cookies and thereby cancel previous cookie profiles.

Google Analytics will typically delete cookie data collected for this purpose within 26 months.

Communication targeting cookies:
Information gathered in order to target marketing communications is typically processed for a few months.

How can a user affect cookies?

Users may block the use of cookies or delete them by adjusting the web browser settings. Blocking cookies may affect the functionality of services. Users who choose to block cookies may not necessarily be able to access all functions on the Liitot.fi website.

Blocking or deleting cookies may affect choices that were previously made on the websites, for example by removing a refusal cookie setting related to targeting of marketing information on a partner’s website. Such settings are browser-specific, meaning that a user must make them separately for each browser.

Are there any other ways for users to influence use of their information?

Besides the right to be informed about the processing of personal data, users are entitled under data protection legislation:

to delete the information and “be forgotten”
to revoke any consent that they have given
to restrict processing of information
to seek a transfer from one system to another of information that they have provided and that is subject to automatically processing, either by consent or by agreement

The primary way for users to influence processing of their information is by changing their cookie settings as explained above. Where is information released or transferred to?

SAK uses reliable partners to target marketing communications, allowing them to do so by collecting data from the Liitot.fi website using cookies and corresponding technologies. Further details of processing by partners are set out under What are cookies and their associated information used for?

Service providers used by SAK (such as a media agency) may have access to information collected during website use. They may use this information only for the requirements of SAK. SAK may transfer the personal data that it processes to destinations outside the territory of the European Union or European Economic Area in accordance with current legislation in this context.

SAK contractually ensures that its partners and service providers process data in accordance with current legislation at all times.

How is the information protected?

Security and the protection of personal data are fully integrated into all use and processing of information at SAK, with the most appropriate technical and administrative measures taken to ensure the security and usability of personal data. SAK processes all personal data securely and in the manner required by law. Only individuals who need personal data to perform their duties are authorised to access such data.

Information collected using cookies is also processed by external partners in accordance with separate agreements. SAK contractually ensures that all data security management complies with data protection legislation.
